What are your wedding colors and/or themes?
When you get married outdoors in the fall IN Lake Placid you really dont need wedding colors the leaves do it all and we really wanted to let them set the scene. we did add a pop of color with red buffalo check blankets on the seats at the ceremony. I did mostly whites and greens. We wanted our wedding to reflect our love of the wilderness but with a touch of elegance.
What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
Brendan and I had our 11 year anniversary about a month before our wedding. my inspiration was really to share us as a couple with our guests. we wanted them to feel like they were a part of this next step. Everything at our wedding was geared toward our interests and our style. We love the adirondacks so much and many of our guests had never been there so I really wanted to highlight the place that meant so much to us.
Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?
YES! One thing that we got the most comments on from friends+family were how many special touches we added! The buffalo check blankets, two pack baskets (one from each side of grandparents) filled with flowers at the beginning of the aisle, a custom adirondack trail sign with our names, two bars built by our caretaker from a tree chopped down at our camp, all the greenery used by our florist was taken from our camp, i carried a bouquet wrapped in a tent belonging to my late grandfather, custom cups with our wedding logo designed by my mother, the place cards were handmade (by me) arrows highlighting our love of hunting, and finally the most talked about element…a canoe painted and custom logoed by my parents filled with beer and wine! OH and i rode to the aisle with my father on an ATV!!
Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
For having had a “traditional” type wedding we really didnt do much with tradition. one thing that we did was in our cocktail tent we had a small sapling tree attached to the pole that we clipped wedding or engagement photos of every person at our wedding.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
It truly was the best day of our lives. Every aspect our wedding was specifically designed to reflect our relationship and i could not have asked for more. One highlight though was my 91 year old grandmother on the dance floor until 11pm!
