What are your wedding colors and/or themes?
Our colors were shades of pink and purple, with lots of green and gold in our decor. It kept feeling like we were adding more colors to the mix, but with the leaves changing and great weather/backdrop I figured we could get away with it. We both love being outdoors and wanted to bring the outside into the barn. Crocus was so lovely to work with and really delivered on this vision with the great green chandelier, vines wrapping up the poles of the barn, sweeping across the long tables and even in our photo booth. The goal was to create a cozy setting for everyone to enjoy the fall weekend in the Berkshires.
What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
We are both very close with our families and love to travel. We’ve been together over 10 years but it was the first time we were bringing our extended families together. We couldn’t think of anything more special than bringing those two passions together for a weekend away.
Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?
There were so many special and unique touches! My grandfather carved our deer cake toppers, which we love and will keep forever. Anthony created the structure that held our table numbers, as well as handmade the jenga, and corn hole. There was also a replica of the barn Anthony made in the weeks leading up to the wedding to serve as our card holder, and two birdhouses just for fun. He also carved our initials out of wood, so lots of natural hand made pieces that really played well off the gorgeous barn.
Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
My godmother brought soft pretzels up from Philadelphia. Even with the best catering around, it wouldn’t be a Ryan party without these. We also made sure to carve out time for family photos. As hard as it was to organize that many people, Katie and Lindsay captured every image on our shot list flawlessly and we’ll cherish those photos and memories always.
My mom was so involved in the planning and really made everything happen, so while it is not a tradition just being able to dance with my parents and brothers and Anthony’s family to celebrate all the work went into this day was awesome.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Katie and Lindsey found the perfect spot down the road for our solo shots. A highlight of our day was jumping in the back of Katie’s car and running around fields and farms. We both love horses and I grew up riding, so the fact that a kind stranger stopped and let us pose with his horse was just magical. We felt so lucky to have everyone we love in one place, and to work with vendors that made it all so easy.
Justine’s Monique Lhuiller dress was stunning!
Another amazingly beautiful C+W bride – the dress, the light, everything was working that weekend
Crocus Hale was on hand which meant killer floral+decor as always
Real moments like this are what we live for
We’re always striving to do things different, to go the extra mile, and it paid off in this instance. We arrived early and scouted this location for totally unique sunset portraits
Thank you to the couple, their families, and all the fellow professionals who helped make this the perfect weekend getaway!
