– What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Honestly, our favorite part of our wedding was not a moment but a feeling. Harrison and I both felt so much love for one another and so much love from everyone around us that we were beaming the entire day! Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean! Even the weather cooperated and made us feel like someone was looking down on us and gifting us an absolutely perfect day! Towards the end of the reception, there was a moment when Harrison and I stepped outside and we were watching guests hug and dance through the glass windows. The room was full of love and this magnetic energy which we’ve never experienced so strongly before. It was completely magical!
– What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
We got engaged in the Hudson Valley, so we used that location as inspiration for the wedding itself! That’s how we settled on The Garrison as our venue because it offered beautiful views of the Hudson River and the surrounding hills. We also settled on a soft color palette and springy flowers to match the natural setting. Most importantly, we wanted our guests to experience an intimate event with a lot of personal elements woven in which is why we chose to write our own vows and customize many of the details. We designed concert tickets as the escort cards because we love attending concerts together and each table was named after a different concert venue. We also displayed scrapbooks from our five years of dating which allowed our guests a glimpse into our lives as our relationship developed.
– Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
We incorporated a few traditions like having my father walk me down the aisle and having a mother-son dance and a father-daughter dance. I also had my grandmother’s wedding dress fabric sewed into the skirt of my dress as my “something old” so I could feel my grandmother’s presence with me on my wedding day. Also, as far as new traditions, because we got married the weekend of Mother’s Day, I made a point to give my mom a special gift the morning of the wedding. It was a Tiffany and Co. necklace with intertwining circles which signified that no matter what, we will always remain connected as mother daughter. It was a special moment and was beautifully captured in our video trailer.
