What are your wedding colors and/or themes?
Our colors were cream, ivory, gold, peach, coral, and greenery. The theme we were going for was “rustic elegance.”

How did you meet? Do you have a special proposal story?
For the proposal, Doug schemed with Lindsay’s friends to crash a “girls weekend” they were having in New York. After Lindsay’s friends used a non-existent Groupon to lure her to the beautiful courtyard of the Nomo Hotel, Doug surprised Lindsay and got down on one knee shortly thereafter. After some celebratory drinks and photos with friends, we scooted off for dinner at a favorite hole-in-the-wall Filipino restaurant and shared a bottle of wine that we had bought on our very first trip together three and a half years earlier.

What is your inspiration when planning your wedding?
Lindsay worked for a year right near the Mountain Top Inn, and we spent many fun evenings having dinner or drinks outside on the dining room patio. When it came time to choose our wedding venue, we wanted to pick a place that had meaning for us personally and would be a memorable backdrop for our guests, and with its resplendent mountains and lakes the MTI was the perfect fit.

Did you incorporate any fun themes/motifs or design elements?
Vermont is such a spectacular place on its own, so we wanted to keep it simple and accent the natural beauty rather than overwhelm it. The floral arrangements – from the chuppah to the tables to the bouquet – reflected that very natural look with the occasional pop of color.

Did you include any special traditions, old or new?
While we kept things pretty secular overall, it was important to us to weave in elements of our Jewish heritage throughout the ceremony and into the night. The hora was particularly memorable- a lot of our friends really embraced the opportunity to hoist us up in chairs and make us deeply concerned about our safety. Also, not sure if this counts as a tradition, per se, but we love to go out for ice cream or frozen yogurt all 12 months of the year regardless of the weather, and since the wedding was in Vermont, we knew we had to have a Ben & Jerry’s cart as part of our dessert!
